AT&T Vital Connections
When disaster strikes, we keep you connected with what matters most.
Overview
AT&T is committed to delivering the highest levels of service, quality and reliability for customers under all circumstances. We've invested billions of dollars in our networks and systems to prepare for natural disasters, and the company conducts readiness drills throughout the year to ensure our networks and personnel are ready to respond in a moment's notice.
In 2008, we donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross for emergency relief as part of a five-year, $1 million commitment. We also encouraged our wireless customers to donate $5 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through a text messaging campaign. The tax-deductible donations provided food, shelter and assistance to hurricane evacuees and victims.
Disaster Preparedness
At AT&T, we plan for the worst, and we're helping our customers prepare for any disaster through a variety of tips and resources.

Earthquake
After the devastating earthquake in Southwest China, AT&T launched an Employee-Matching Gift Program to address the immediate needs of victims, and The AT&T Foundation provided up to $500,000 in matching funds to assist with disaster relief efforts.
Tornado
Immediately following the tornados in Greensburg KS, AT&T provided a portable bank of public phones with free local and long distance calling and arranged for Kansas residential customers with storm-damaged homes to receive free call forwarding or call management services so they remained connected throughout the recovery process.
