AT&T Senior Leadership Spotlight: John T. Stankey
John Stankey, President and CEO, AT&T Business Solutions, is responsible for AT&T's sales, marketing and customer service operations for retail business, government and wholesale customers of AT&T worldwide. He also leads research and development, architecture and planning, engineering, network operations, information technology and corporate shared services.
Prior to this assignment, Stankey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Operations, Inc. Stankey also has served as Group President-Telecom Operations, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, operations and network for the company's former five regional telecom units, in addition to customer care, IT, core network operations, planning and engineering, AT&T Labs, procurement and corporate real estate.
Stankey's other responsibilities at AT&T have included Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, President and CEO of AT&T's Southwest Region, and President of Industry Markets.
Mr. Stankey began his career with Pacific Bell in 1985, where he held a variety of positions in sales and service, network operations, information technology, video operations, engineering, and corporate support. He served as executive director over Pacific Bell's advanced communications network and local wholesale operations before becoming vice president-Industry Markets for SBC Telecommunications in 1998. In addition to his AT&T responsibilities, Mr. Stankey is vice chairman of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and serves on the board of the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
