AT&T International Long Distance Dialing Guide

Printable dialing guide and international country access codes

Direct Dialing Instructions -- Enter:

  • 011 (the international access code)
  • The country code
  • The city code
  • The local telephone number
  • The "#" button (if using a touch-tone phone, to save time)
    Example: Placing a call to Paris, France, dial 011 (the international access code), 33 (the country code for France), 1(the city code for Paris), and the local telephone number.

Operator Assisted Calls Instructions-- Enter:


(Person-to-person calls; collect calls; calling card calls on a rotary phone; international calls billed to a number other than the person you're calling)
  • 01 (the international access code)
  • The country code
  • The city code
  • The local telephone number
  • The "#" button (if using a touch-tone phone, to save time)
  • After you dial, you'll be connected to an operator.

Directory Assistance while outside the United States, Canada or U.S Territories:

  • Enter the country access number of the country you are calling from. See below for the numbers.
  • At the prompt, press "0" (zero) for operator assistance.

To make Collect Calls while outside the United States, Canada or U.S Territories:

  • Enter the country access number of the country you are calling from. See below for the numbers.
  • Listen for the instructions.
  • Press "2" for collect calls.
  • Follow the instructions or press "0" (zero) for operator assistance.

Helpful Tips

  • When calling from a hotel, first connect with an outside line.
  • For multiple calls, don't hang up. Press "#" for two seconds before entering the next number.
  • Options can be dialed at any time during recorded voice instructions. If you misdial, press "*".

If you experience problems with your Long Distance Calling Card while outside the United States, Canada or U.S Territories, please call 210-360-5402 collect. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm (U.S. Central Time).


Lost or Stolen Cards

Please report a lost or stolen card to AT&T Long Distance immediately.

  • In the United States, Canada or U.S. Territories, call 1-877-722-2251, 1-800-527-7155 or 1-888-827-7979.
  • Outside the United States, Canada or U.S. Territories, call 210-360-5402 collect. Follow the directions for making a collect call.

Please Note: Toll Free calls can not be placed from International locations using your AT&T Long Distance Calling Card.


To Place a Calling Card call from outside the United States, Canada or U.S. Territories:

  • Dial the country access number for the country you are calling from. See below for country access numbers.
  • Note any special dialing instructions. Example: for all country access numbers that end in "608", enter "608" after the second tone.
  • At the first prompt, press "1" for calling card.
  • Enter your calling card number and 4-digit PIN.
  • Enter the phone number you're calling:
    • To call the United States, enter the area code and the 7-digit phone number.
    • To call another country, enter "01", the country code, city code and local phone number.
