Alternate Bill Media Support?
Alternate Bill Media Support is a service/server/system that enables us to offer a portfolio of three alternate bill media products designed to improve customer billing payment and analysis. These three products are:

These billing products are regional and allow the customer to combine all their AT&T Illinois, AT&T Indiana, AT&T Michigan, AT&T Ohio, and AT&T Wisconsin landline (ACIS) bills into a single product(s).

A customer can combine two or more of these billing products to achieve business needs (subject to any restrictions, e.g., cannot use EDI 820 Electronic Payment with Summary Billing Service).

What are the limitations, conflicting products, and availability?
Limitations:

  • All accounts within a given billing product subscription must be billed to the same customer or written approval obtained to release bill information.
  • All accounts must be "live," not final.
  • All accounts must be exchange, semi-public coin (billed to the customer), or for miscellaneous billed accounts in the ACIS system.
  • Customer is responsible for any equipment necessary to ensure compatibility with our products.
  • Media can be created only on the bill date after an account is input into the Alternate Bill Media system. It cannot be created on back bills.
  • Media sent to the customer, e.g., CD-ROM, should arrive about ten business days after the billing date.
  • Bills can be suppressed with SBS and EDI only.
  • Liability for data lost in the mail or unreadable information is limited to the re-creation of the data, upon notification by the customer. Data may be re-created up to 45 calendar days after the bill date by calling the Alternate Billing Solutions Help Desk.

Conflicting Products:

  • AT&T Illinois, AT&T Indiana, AT&T Michigan, AT&T Ohio, and AT&T Wisconsin billing from any system other than ACIS cannot be incorporated into the Alternate Bill Media billing products; for example:
    • CABS
    • Cellular
    • CPE billing system

Availability:

  • Most Alternate Bill Media products are available to business customers on live exchange, semi-public coin (billed to the customer), and for miscellaneous billed accounts in the ACIS system.
  • The Connect Direct media option offered with EBS 450 and EDI 811 is available to retail customers.

What are the payment options/contracts?

  • Electronic Billing Service - Payment for accounts involved may be made individually, or the customer may also subscribe to SBS (Summary Billing Service) or EDI 820.

  • Summary Billing Service - SBS (Summary Billing Service) is a payment product. Customers may not pay their SBS statement electronically. The customer submits one check for the grand total by the due date on the statement (22 days after the preparation date). Each payment must be sent with the SBS statement top page, in the bar-coded enclosed envelope, and mailed to:

    SBS Payment Processing Center
    PO Box 2356
    Saginaw, MI 48605-2356

  • Electronic Data Interchange - EDI 811 customers may pay accounts individually, or subscribe to SBS (Summary Billing Service) or EDI 820. EDI 820 provides customers the ability to pay their bill(s) electronically:

    1. Customer electronically moves payment and payment notification to Harris Bank.
    2. Harris Bank deposits the money into our bank account.
    3. Harris Bank sends the payment notification to the Alternate Bill Media Support system.
    4. Alternate Bill Media converts the EDI 820 records to payment records and forwards the file to the hub located in Michigan.
    5. The hub splits the file by state and sends the appropriate records to the proper processing office.

May I pay my Summary Billing Statement electronically?
No, payment must be made by check to the SBS Payment Center.

Can I have my data delivered on CD-ROM?

  • EBS 450 has been available on CD-ROM since November 1995.
  • SBS and EDI are not available on CD-ROM.

Can I mix ACIS, CABS, and/or Cellular accounts on a subscription?
No, only billing information for ACIS accounts is passed to Alternate Bill Media.

Can I cross state lines and have accounts from more than one state on a single product subscription?
