- Voice Mail System Access Number - This is the assigned number that you call when you want to enter your mailbox and retrieve or create messages.
- Password - A 4 to 15-digit code you select to gain access to your mailbox.
- Interrupted Dial Tone - When you hear this sound, you have messages waiting. This tone will NOT prevent you from placing a phone call and does not indicate there is a repair issue with the phone line.
- Extension Mailbox - AT&T Enhanced Voice Mail lets you create up to three extension mailboxes which can accept messages for other employees or departments.
- LATA - The area within which you can make local and local toll calls.
- Prompts - A series of audible instructions that guide you through each AT&T Voice Mail feature.

Deletion Notification: AT&T Voice Mail automatically saves messages for 16 days (31 days for Enhanced). It notifies you when a message is about to be deleted and gives you the option to re-save the message.

Administrative
From Main Menu press to enter Administrative Options.
Greetings
From Main Menu press to enter Greetings Options.
After recording your message:

to REPLAY your greeting.

to RE-RECORD your greeting.

1 Extended Absence Greeting is not available with AT&T Enhanced Voice Mail. When Extended Absence Greeting is activated, callers will be unable to leave you a message.
Message Notification
From Main Menu press to enter Notification Options.
- Press
to Turn On Notification.
- Press
to Turn OFF Notification.
When Message Notification is turned on, you will hear an interrupted dial tone indicating that there is a message waiting. A visual message indicator may also be available in your area. (These options are not available with AT&T Stand-Alone Mailbox service.)
Access Security
From Main Menu press to enter Access Security Options.

to Turn ON Access Security.
- Press
to Turn OFF Access Security.
When turned on, Access Security lets you know if an unauthorized entry has been made into your mailbox. Each time you enter your mailbox, you will be asked to record your name and time of day. The system will replay this recording the next time an entry is made. If you don't hear your recording, you will know that an unauthorized entry has been made. You should change your password immediately.

From Main Menu press to enter Group Lists.
With AT&T Voice Mail Group Lists, you can send the same message to as many as 25 different AT&T Voice Mail users in your LATA at once. You can have up to 15 different distribution lists. This feature is ideal for use with Mailbox-to-Mailbox Messaging.
To add or delete telephone numbers within a group, enter the 10-digit number. If the number is not on the list, it will be added automatically. If the number is on the list, it will be deleted automatically. The system will notify you of these changes.

From Main Menu press to enter Enhanced Voice Mail Options.
AT&T Enhanced Voice Mail provides you with one Host (main) Mailbox and lets you create up to three additional Extension Mailboxes. Creating Extension Mailboxes allows you to share
voice mail with other employees or departments. People calling you from a touch-tone telephone can direct messages to either the Host (main) Mailbox or Extension Mailboxes. If the caller doesn't select an Extension Mailbox, the call is automatically directed to the Host (main) Mailbox. Each Extension Mailbox can be set up with its own personal greeting and password.
Adding an Extension Mailbox:
- Press

- Designate the Mailbox number.
- To ADD enter NEW PASSWORD (4-15 digits).
- RECORD a name.
- Press
for STANDARD GREETING or
- Press
for PERSONAL GREETING and follow prompts.
- Press
to RE-RECORD main mailbox greeting or

to ADD another extension mailbox.
Deleting an Extension Mailbox:
- Press
to DELETE the mailbox.

to CONFIRM deletion or to CANCEL.

Note: When you delete an Extension Mailbox, you also erase all the messages in the mailbox at that time. Users must remember to re-record the main greeting so that after adding or deleting an Extension Mailbox callers will know which Extension Mailboxes are available.
Setting up an Extension Mailbox:
- From your business phone line with voice mail...
- Dial your voice mail access number.
- Enter your temporary password.
- Follow step-by-step prompts to personalize your mailbox or listen to messages.
- Press
to return to Main Menu.
Note: If you want to access another Extension Mailbox, press to restart. You may restart at the Main Menu or after listening to messages in an Extension Mailbox. If you want to know the number of messages in each mailbox, press at the Main Menu.
- From another phone line...
- Dial your voice mail access number.

Pager Notification
When you subscribe to Pager Notification, you will be paged with a "77" on your pager display when a new message is left in your mailbox (24 hours a day, 7 days a week provided your pager is on). If you prefer to customize your paging schedule (i.e., no weekends, only urgent messages, etc.), use the following instructions below.
From Main Menu press to enter Paging Features.
- Turning Notification On/Off:
- Press
to turn notification On/Off.
- Press
to turn ON pager notification.
- Press
to turn OFF pager notification.
- Press
to turn ON new message waiting indicator.
- Press
to turn OFF new message waiting indicator.
- Customizing Your Paging Schedule:

to Set the Pager Schedule.
- For WEEKDAY notification, follow the prompts to enter the time you will be paged during the week. If you do not wish to be paged during the week, spell "NO" (
).
- Enter a 4-digit start time (Example: 0 8 0 0 or 8 o'clock).

for p.m.
- Enter a 4-digit end time (Example: 0 5 0 0 for 5 o'clock).

Note: To cancel the current entry at any time press . To reset your pager Notification Schedule back to 24 hours a day, set the start time to 12:00 a.m. and the end time to 11:59 p.m.
- Select Types:
- Select the type of message for voice mail to page you.
- Press
for ANY MESSAGES You will be paged when an urgent or non-urgent message is left in your mailbox.

for URGENT MESSAGES You will be paged when an urgent message is left in your mailbox. Be sure your personal greeting tells callers to press before hanging up to designate their message as urgent.

for URGENT MESSAGES FROM A GROUP DISTRIBUTION LIST. You will be paged when an urgent message is sent to a predefined group distribution list.
- Set Interval:
For urgent, all messages or urgent messages from a group distribution list. Select how soon
voice mail will page you when a message is left.

Pager Direct
Pager Notification works with the Host (main) Mailbox only, not Extension Mailboxes. When you subscribe to Pager Notification service, it comes with an added bonus, Pager Direct. This feature allows callers to reach you right away by leaving their call-back number and/or a voice message - all with one phone call. Simply change your greeting to let callers know you have Pager Direct. For example: "Hi, this is Stacy. If you need to reach me right away press at anytime during this greeting to page me." Once the caller presses , they will be prompted to enter their call-back number and either leave a voice mail message or simply hang up the phone.

You can create, reply to or forward a message to other AT&T Voice Mail users who are within your local serving area (including your Extension Mailbox users).
- Create a new message:
- From the main menu press
to create a message.
- Record your message.
- Press
when finished.
- Enter the destination mailbox (for delivery options press
).
- Press
to send the message.
- Enter the next destination or
- Press
to exit.
- Forward a Message:
- From the main menu press
to record introductory comments.
- Press
when finished recording.
- Enter the mailbox (for delivery options press

Note: You can send a copy of a message and a recorded introduction of your own up to 3 minutes long.
- Reply to a Message:
- From the main menu press
to record your reply.
- Press
when finished recording.
- Press

Note: You can send a reply up to 3 minutes long. You will be prompted when the reply feature is available for use.
- Destination Options:1
- For Individual Mailboxes, enter the 10-digit mailbox number (Example: 312-555-1212).
- For Group Lists, enter the 2-digit code (Example: 15).
- For Enhanced Voice Mail Users:
- To send a message to an Extension Mailbox, enter the 1-digit mailbox number (Example: 1).
- To send a message from an Extension Mailbox to the Host (main) Mailbox, enter the 7-digit mailbox number (Example: 555-1212).
Note: After specifying the destination of a message, but before you send it, you can classify your message with any of the Delivery and Message Confirmation Options below. If you do not select a Delivery Option, your message will be sent with normal delivery.
- Delivery Options:2

to classify Private (Message cannot be forwarded).

to classify Urgent (Puts message ahead of other non-urgent messages).
Note: You can cancel any delivery option by pressing the option number again.

To change the number of times your phone will ring before voice mail picks up, call toll free 877-345-RING (877-345-7464). When you call the toll-free number, the system will ask you to enter your mailbox number and give you the following ring options:

When you subscribe to AT&T Stand-Alone Voice Mail, you can have callers dial your mailbox directly and leave a message.
- Setting up Your Stand-Alone Mailbox:
- Dial your access number and have your 10-digit mailbox number ready.
- Press

- Enter your 10-digit mailbox number.
- Enter your temporary password (provided to you by your AT&T representative).
- Follow the step-by-step instructions to set up your Stand-Alone Voice Mailbox.
Note: These steps must be completed in one call or you will be asked to start over the next time you call.
- Accessing Your Stand-Alone Mailbox:
- Dial your access number.

As an AT&T Voice Mail user, did you know that you can quickly and easily:
- Change the number of rings (ring cycle) before callers are transferred to your
voice mailbox?
To change your ring cycle, call AT&T using the phone number that appears on your bill. For the automated system (does not apply to Centrex voice mail customers), call toll-free at 877-345-RING (877-345-7464).
- Activate a visual message waiting indicator if you have the proper equipment?
If your telephone has a lamp or you have a message waiting light, call AT&T (using the phone number that appears on your bill) to add this feature to your voice mailbox.
- Have the option of letting callers press
to be transferred from
voice mail to someone at your business?
To set up this feature, call AT&T using the phone number that appears on your bill.
- Check the time and date messages were received?
To check the time and date when listening to a message, press at any time.
- Have "hands-free" access while listening to your messages on the road or by speakerphone?
When the AutoPlay/AutoSave feature is ON, messages are automatically played and saved without pressing any keys on your touch-tone phone. To turn AutoPlay/AutoSave ON or OFF, press . For extension mailboxes, set up AutoPlay/AutoSave through the Host mailbox.
- Skip over messages to get to another message?
To skip one or more messages, press .
- Fast forward or rewind messages while listening to them?
To fast forward a message for 10 seconds, press . To rewind a message for 10 seconds, press .
- Pause and restart messages while listening to them?
To pause a message at any time, press . To restart a message, press again.
- Slow down or speed up messages while listening to them?
To slow down a message, press . To speed up a message, press .
- Control the volume of messages?
