Marion residents now have a new choice for their television and communications services, powered by the most advanced technology. AT&T* today announced the launch of AT&T U-verse® services in parts of Marion, including AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice. The introduction of these new services is part of an ongoing expansion of AT&T U-verse availability in Indiana.
AT&T U-verse services, which are all delivered over AT&T’s advanced Internet Protocol (IP) network, offer a new alternative to cable and an unmatched experience for customers. AT&T U-verse brings together your TV, broadband, home phone and AT&T wireless services — all on one bill — with unique features that provide a new level of integration, convenience and control.
“This is good news, especially at a time when attracting new investment is still a challenge across the country,” said Sen. Luke Kenley. “When providers invest to deliver new technology, consumers, small businesses and our local economies all benefit.”
“When we reformed our state’s telecom and video laws, we trusted that good things would follow,” said Rep. Eric Turner. “It is good to see local providers making the investments we need to bring area residents new options for Internet and video services.
Today’s announcement is part of AT&T’s ongoing investment since passage of the Telecom and Video Reform Act (HEA 1279) that was signed into law by Gov. Mitch Daniels in 2006. Between 2006 and 2009, AT&T's total capital investment has exceeded $1.3 billion across Indiana.
"Gov. Daniels and the Indiana General Assembly truly paved the way for the investments necessary to bring consumers across Indiana new options for advanced broadband and video services," said George S. Fleetwood, president of AT&T Indiana. "By updating our laws, they made Indiana more attractive for investment and consumers now have more options because of their good work.”
“The speed of change in the technology sector is really something to watch,” said Sen. Travis Holdman. “People are clamoring more and more for faster Internet options. So, today’s announcement is good news for the community.”
“Access to advanced telecommunications infrastructure is essential to staying connected and competing in a global economy,” said Rep. Joe Pearson. “This is positive for consumers and faster broadband connectivity also makes our community more attractive.”
“When the telecom companies invest, it’s skilled laborers that deploy these next-generation broadband networks across Indiana,” said CWA Local 4900 President Tim Strong. “Today’s announcement is good for the community and it is also good for working families.”
More Choice, Advanced Features
AT&T U-verse TV is the only 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service offered by a national service provider, making AT&T U-verse one of the most dynamic and application-rich services available today, with advanced capabilities that customers don’t get from other providers.
“We’re excited that Marion residents will finally have a new choice for TV,” said Brian Ducharme, vice president and general manager, AT&T Indiana. “Cable has been the only game in town for too long, and we’re glad parts of Marion have the choice to break free.”
Where AT&T U-verse services are available, local U-verse TV customers can enjoy numerous features and applications, including the ability to manage and playback your recorded programs from a single DVR on any U-verse connected TV in the house with Total Home DVR; the ability to watch up to four channels at one time with the award-winning U-verse TV Multiview; access to an extensive High Definition (HD) channel lineup with access to more than 120 HD channels; the ability to program DVR recordings from your Web-connected mobile phone or PC; personalized, on-screen weather, sports, traffic and stock information via AT&T U-bar; the ability to stream your personal photos and music files from your PC to your U-verse TV with Media Share; the ability to check the current weather conditions and forecasts in any U.S. city with Weather On Demand; and more.
