AT&T* today announced that AT&T India has won a three-year contract with Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) to provide Virtual Private Network (VPN) and network integration services connecting Harley-Davidson’s offices in India to the U.S. headquarters to support its growth plans in India.
AT&T has provided networking solutions to Harley-Davidson in the United States for a number of years. Under the new agreement, AT&T India will provide network capabilities to sites in India, allowing Harley-Davidson’s employees in India to effectively and timely communicate with their counterparts in the United States. AT&T India will also provide Harley-Davidson with network integration consulting, equipment procurement, staging, configuration, deployment and staff augmentation pertaining to building the communications network for the new sites in India.
Harley-Davidson’s Indian operations, which began in 2009, are poised to expand as Harley develops the leisure motorcycling market in India. To facilitate its plans, Harley-Davidson requires a reliable and scalable network connection between the United States and India that can be used for data delivery, as well as supporting a wide range of applications. Harley-Davidson also needs a global communications company with a strong presence in India to design and execute the project effectively and efficiently.
“We have worked with AT&T in the United States for a number of years to support our business and telecommunications needs. We have relied on AT&T’s global presence and expertise in helping us enter new markets and countries,” said Anoop Prakesh, Managing Director of Harley-Davidson India. “Just like in the United States, AT&T in India has the necessary expertise and capability to support the IT and telecommunications build-out of our India offices. The local AT&T have helped us to kick start our India operations in the most efficient and productive manner.”
