AT&T* today announced that customers in Dallas will have access to the latest generation of wireless network technology from AT&T, 4G LTE, which is capable of delivering mobile broadband speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. 4G LTE is also more efficient than other mobile broadband technologies, providing responsive performance for customers when they need it most.
“We continue to see demand for mobile broadband skyrocket, and now our customers in Dallas have access to the latest in mobile broadband with 4G LTE,” said Adam Vital, AT&T’s general manager for North Texas. “Customers can now get everything from e-mail to apps to streaming video even faster.”
AT&T currently offers four 4G LTE-compatible devices: the HTC Jetstream tablet, the AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G, the AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G, and the AT&T USBConnect Adrenaline.
AT&T will continue to expand its 4G LTE footprint in Dallas over the coming months. AT&T has also launched 4G LTE in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and San Antonio and plans to offer 4G LTE in at least 15 markets and to 70 million Americans by the end of the year.
AT&T is positioned to deliver a great mobile broadband experience to its customers, now and in the future. Not only is AT&T deploying 4G LTE, it has also deployed fast HSPA+ technology throughout its mobile broadband network. HSPA+, when combined with enhanced backhaul, provides customers with 4G speeds. The two complementary technologies mean that customers will have more consistent mobile broadband speeds as they move in and out of 4G LTE areas. Customers of competitors who have transitioned to 4G LTE without further speed upgrades to their existing networks are likely to see a steep drop-off in speeds when they move out of 4G LTE areas.
