AT&T and Pantech Launch AT&T Reconnect Tour to Educate Seniors about Mobile Technology through Interactive Workshops

Fifteen-City Tour Puts Mobile Technology in Hands of Seniors and Boomers, Teaches New Ways to Communicate with Loved Ones

Dallas, Texas, September 18, 2012

Coming soon to a retirement community near you, the AT&T* Reconnect Tour, in alliance with Senior TechRALLY™, will begin a 15-city jaunt across the country offering tech newcomers a fresh perspective on smartphones, tablets and wireless technology overall. The Tour kicks off in Minneapolis and Laguna, CA, on Sept. 20 and will conclude in Tampa and Atlanta on Dec. 20. To learn more, visit www.SeniorTechRally.com.

Now in its second year, the AT&T Reconnect Tour is the most interactive mobile tech workshop ever created for seniors. Each workshop takes place over a full day and will educate attendees about the benefits of using mobile technology. During each workshop, participants will learn about a wide range of topics including text messaging, apps, video calling, e-books and photo sharing. Specially trained instructors lead the sessions and will answer questions while walking attendees through the basic functions of a smartphone and tablet to teach them ways to stay connected to family and friends.

Among the devices available for demonstrations are the Pantech Flex, an Android smartphone that offers users a dual experience system that runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and the Pantech Element, an affordable 4G LTE tablet that is waterproof**. The Pantech Flex uniquely offers the standard Android format, as well as an “Easy Experience,” which prioritizes customers’ apps on one home screen in a clearly organized and easy-to-read format. To see more of the Flex’s features in action, check out this video or visit www.PantechUSA.com/flex.

The Pantech Element features an 8-inch display for watching videos, checking email or video chatting over Wi-Fi. Ideal for busy lifestyles, Element is waterproof so users can take it everywhere while worrying less about incidental water exposure. A full range of Element’s features can be viewed in this video or at www.PantechUSA.com/phones/element.

“Mobile technology has really changed the way we communicate with friends and family and many of us have come to rely on these tools to stay connected,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T.  “By teaming up with Pantech on the AT&T Reconnect Tour, we hope to help these tech newcomers feel more comfortable with technology and show them new ways that it can make their lives easier.”

“As seen with a number of our Simplicity Seeker products over the past several years including the Pantech Breeze and Pantech Ease, Pantech remains committed to serving this audience with devices that are easy-to-use and intuitive,” said Wyatt Whaley, vice president of product planning at Pantech Wireless. “For Pantech and AT&T, the Reconnect Tour is another step forward in bringing mobile technology to aging adults in ways that meet their lifestyle needs while expanding their ability to communicate with the people they care about most.”
