Business Traveler Readers Name AT&T the Best Provider for Mobile Phone and Data Coverage Worldwide

AT&T Claims Top Spot among All U.S. Wireless Providers

Dallas, Texas, December 19, 2012

AT&T* announced today that it was selected as the “Best Mobile Phone/Data Provider” in the 2012 Best in Business Travel Awards, conducted by Business Traveler (BT) magazine.  The annual survey gives readers the chance to voice their opinions in support of companies that have made their business travel even easier and more efficient.

Past BT surveys featured separate voting categories for mobile phone coverage and data coverage, with AT&T being selected as having the “Best Mobile Phone Coverage in the World” for four consecutive years**.  This year, however, BT consolidated the two categories; the result—readers selected AT&T as delivering the best all-around wireless experience.

“We are thrilled that Business Traveler readers recognize our commitment to deliver a best-in-class mobile experience to our customers,” said Bill Hague, executive vice president, International, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.  “With our leading global voice and data footprint along with our wide selection of world phones and affordable international calling, messaging and data packages, we are making it easy for our customers to travel the globe with confidence knowing they can stay connected to what matters most.”

AT&T delivers the following benefits to global travelers:

Broad international voice and data coverage.  AT&T offers the broadest international voice and data coverage of any U.S. carrier, with voice coverage in more than 225 countries and data coverage in more than 210 countries. We also offer ultra-fast 3G network services in more than 175 countries.

Voice and data coverage on more than 250 major cruise ships, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Disney and Celebrity Cruise Lines. For a complete list, visit www.wireless.att.com/travelguide.

Extensive portfolio of world devices.  AT&T offers an extensive selection of quad-band world devices—those that work on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies. For use in Japan and S. Korea, AT&T customers also enjoy a great selection of devices that operate on 2100 MHz.

Easy to use. AT&T’s network uses GSM technology—the worldwide standard for wireless, which makes it more convenient to stay in touch with family, friends and business colleagues while abroad – all on the same device and wireless number used at home.

True smartphone multi-tasking. AT&T customers can use both voice and data at the same time on their device – both in the United States and internationally.

International packages that deliver more choice and value. AT&T offers several international discount packages for voice, data and messaging. Just last month, AT&T announced new Travel Minutes packages that offer customers significant cost savings when making or receiving calls while abroad.  AT&T also recently introduced an AT&T Wi-Fi International app, which lets customers who subscribe to a qualifying Data Global Add-On package access up to 1GB of Wi-Fi each month at select AT&T International Wi-Fi hotspots.
