AT&T Teams Up with the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls to Give Fans Total Access
AT&T Customers get Total Access at the United Center with New AT&T Sports Zone and Fan Experience
Chicago, Illinois, January 10, 2013
AT&T* has improved its mobile Internet coverage at the United Center in Chicago by joining the arena’s new 4G LTE-capable** Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to enhance the fan experience. This new (DAS) system, combined with the United Center’s enhanced Wi-Fi and free downloadable United Center app, will provide Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks fans in attendance with live game action camera feeds, historical and current game highlights, statistics, and much more content for smartphones or tablets at all home games.
Fans can also enjoy the new AT&T Sports Zone, located in the concourse near section 114, where they can explore the AT&T network experience, challenge each other in head-to-head competition on the latest NBA or NHL video games on Xbox® video game systems, listen to their favorite player’s warm-up songs on Windows 8 devices or enter for a chance to win VIP experiences with the Bulls and Blackhawks organizations.
“When our customers go to the United Center to cheer on the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks, we want them to have a great network experience no matter what they’re doing – whether that’s making a call, checking email, downloading apps or surfing the Internet,” said AT&T Illinois State President Paul La Schiazza. “We’re committed to our investment in the local wireless network, and providing enhanced wireless coverage at the United Center is just one way we’re investing in Chicago.”
“The United Center is one of the top arenas in the country and our goal is to provide our fans with the best network experience possible. The addition of a new DAS system, enhanced Wi-Fi network and our great relationship with AT&T allows us to accomplish this goal” said United Center Executive Vice President, Howard Pizer.
The DAS installation at the United Center consists of strategically-placed antennas that distribute AT&T’s wireless network coverage throughout the facility, which provides for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily-trafficked areas. The DAS has the ability to provide enhanced, consistent wireless voice and data coverage to customers inside the United Center. Joining the United Center’s DAS system is just one part of AT&T’s ongoing effort to deliver the nation’s best, most advanced mobile Internet experience for customers. AT&T’s 4G LTE network delivers speeds faster than many other mobile Internet technologies***, as well as multiple innovations that optimize the network for performance.
The additional capacity also is expected to help improve call reliability, boost data traffic capacity and enable more consistent network access to help customers in the United Center make the most of their AT&T devices.
