AT&T Wireless Network Ranked No. 1 in El Paso

Independent research firm RootMetrics awards top spot to AT&T in recent wireless network performance test

El Paso, Texas, February 15, 2013

AT&T* wireless customers in El Paso are benefitting from a network ranked highest in the city by an independent research firm.

RootMetrics®, an independent research and testing organization based in Seattle, has released a wireless network performance study for El Paso, naming AT&T the RootMetrics RootScore® Award winner for its combination of call quality and mobile Internet speed.

The RootMetrics award is the result of nearly 15,500 wireless test calls, texts and mobile Internet transmissions conducted during November 2012.

“AT&T ranked the highest in El Paso for overall network performance, according to our research conducted in November 2012. We tested call, data and text performance across the El Paso area, including over AT&T’s 4G LTE network. As a result, AT&T won the RootScore Award for combined performance in the area,” said Bill Moore, RootMetrics CEO.

AT&T launched 4G LTE** in El Paso in November 2012, and plans to expand its 4G LTE network to cover 300 million people by year-end 2014. Even as AT&T executes, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas with 4G HSPA+ technology. With competitors, smartphone customers’ speeds decrease to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.
