AT&T's Michigan Avenue Flagship Brand Store Takes Home Five Additional Awards

Dallas, Texas, April 30, 2013

The awards and recognition for AT&T’s flagship brand store on the famed Magnificent Mile continue to roll in from leading retail industry organizations.  The Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.) Design Awards and Chain Store Age’s Retail Store of the Year Design Competition recently recognized AT&T’s Michigan Avenue store with several awards. These accolades are in addition to the awards received from the 42nd Retail Design Institute Design Awards Gala earlier this year.

The AT&T Michigan Avenue store was honored by the Association of Retail Environments with special awards in three categories: Sustainability, Lighting, In-store Communication, and Outstanding Merit for Hardline Specialty Store 7,501-25,000 square feet. The Association for Retail Environments is a non-profit trade association advancing retail environments and representing international leaders in retail. This year’s A.R.E. Design Award winners were selected from over 300 submissions from retailers around the world.

AT&T also received first place in the Single Unit Category from Chain Store Age.  Chain Store Age reports and analyzes trends and strategies taking place in retail throughout the world and sponsors the annual Retail Store of the Year Design Competition which recognizes the best in retail and restaurant design projects from around the world. 

“Judges were impressed with the level of sustainable benchmarking combined with cohesive design aesthetics of AT&T’s Michigan Avenue store. Judges wanted to recognize the team for designing with sustainable elements while evolving the brand in such a beautifully executed space. This store epitomizes the message of sustainability without sacrificing space,” said Jo Rossman, manager of sustainability and designer programs at the Association of Retail Environments.

“When customers step inside our Michigan Avenue store, we want them to see what’s possible - experiencing first-hand how to connect their devices, their apps  and everything in between to help make their lives easier,” said Paul Roth, president of AT&T retail sales and service. “Our goal with the Michigan Avenue store was to create a compelling, highly engaging shopping experience and this recognition demonstrates that we continue to break new ground not only our own industry but across other major retail categories.”

The 10,000 square foot Michigan Avenue store is the largest AT&T store in the nation. In addition to products and services found at AT&T’s more than 2,300 retail stores nationwide, the flagship brand store provides exclusive accessories by Chicago-area artists and other products unique to the Windy City.

The store is located at 600 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, 60611. Store hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Central time and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Central time.
