SBC Communications Announces $19.95 SBC Yahoo! DSL When Ordered Online
The Best Deal in DSL Just Got Better
San Antonio, Texas, March 1, 2005
The most convenient way to order SBC Yahoo! DSL just became the cheapest.
For the next 31 days, new residential subscribers to SBC Yahoo! DSL Express service who order online through sbc.com or sbc.yahoo.com will receive 12 months of the popular high-speed Internet access service for only $19.95 a month. The price —lower than any other similar offers by leading U.S. providers — requires only a one-year term commitment and SBC local phone service.
Customers who do not order over the Web can receive SBC Yahoo! DSL Express for $19.95 a month when they commit to a one-year term and subscribe to the popular SBC unlimited local and long distance calling plan, All Distance, for $48.95 a month.
The move is the first of many such online initiatives to come, to encourage customers to order SBC products and services and take care of their other communications and entertainment needs over the Web. Current and new customers visiting sbc.com can learn about the latest products, order services, view and pay their bill online with SBC eBill or manage their account through MySBC, check on the status of orders, or get technical assistance — such as repairs — with their products and services.
"sbc.com never closes, and that 24/7 access is a tremendous benefit to consumers with busy lives. Ordering on our web site has always been the most convenient way to take care of business — and now it's the cheapest way to buy SBC Yahoo! DSL," said Scott Helbing, senior vice president, SBC consumer marketing.
The promotion offers SBC Yahoo! DSL Express service with speeds of up to 1.5 megabits per second (Mbps) for $19.95 a month (other monthly charges apply) when ordered online. Customers who crave more speed can get the super-fast SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro service with speeds of up to 3 Mbps for just $29.99 a month (other monthly charges apply) when ordered online. Both offers include a $99 instant credit toward a $149 SBC Yahoo! DSL Wireless Home Networking kit, a $179 laptop home networking bundle or a $99 DSL modem.
"Our move to further encourage customers to do business with us over the Web is an obvious win-win," said Helbing. "Customers like the convenience of an always-open virtual store, and they're going to love the great new features we're introducing. For SBC companies, we're lowering our cost of doing business while increasing customer satisfaction — giving us an online edge."
The offers follow a recent SBC announcement that SBC FreedomLink Wi-Fi service will be available for just $1.99 a month for SBC Yahoo! DSL customers. As part of an introductory offer, customers who sign up for SBC Yahoo! DSL will be able to use the FreedomLink service at no charge until May 31, 2005. FreedomLink service enables DSL subscribers to enjoy a wireless broadband experience at more than 6,000 locations nationwide, including hotels, airports, convention centers, coffee shops, restaurants and business centers. FreedomLink memberships are also available for non-SBC Yahoo! DSL subscribers for $19.95 a month.
With more than 5.1 million DSL lines in service, SBC companies are the nation's largest DSL provider.
