Volex Improves Collaboration with AT&T Networking Services
Boston, Massachusetts, March 13, 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that it has won a three-year networking services contract from the Volex Group plc, a leading producer of electrical and electronic-cabling assemblies. Contract terms were not disclosed.
AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) integrating 21 corporate locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. The VPN provides secure high-speed data, voice and Internet access services.
"Previously, we linked our operational, manufacturing and sales locations through a number of different solutions from disparate providers, which made collaboration among different offices difficult," said Michael Tonino, global vice president of Information Technology for Volex. "With AT&T's VPN, we have an integrated common network to improve productivity and enhance teamwork among our employees, which in turn, improves service to our customers."
Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect portal, Volex gains around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems.
Volex is one of the world's largest producers of electrical and electronic cable assemblies. With over thirty facilities located strategically in the major geographic markets of Europe, North and South America and Asia, the Volex Group provides global support to the world's leading producers of computers, telecommunications systems and networking devices. In addition, the Group builds products for consumer electronics and appliances, for transportation and for defence, aerospace and industrial applications.
