MACTEC Seeks More Network Solutions from AT&T
Leading Engineering Services Provider Prepares for Additional Growth While Maintaining Business Focus
Atlanta, Georgia, April 10, 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has renewed a three-year contract worth more than $1.5 million with MACTEC, a leader in the engineering, environmental and remedial construction industries. Under the contract, AT&T currently provides long distance voice service, AT&T Managed Internet Service and an MPLS-based high speed networking solution. MACTEC uses these services to maintain a company network covering approximately 90 locations nationwide.
MACTEC was an early adopter of MPLS services when it first engaged AT&T in 2003. The contract renewal will extend the company's relationship with AT&T by transferring a portion of its in-house data center to one of AT&T's Internet Data Centers (IDC).
Because of MACTEC's significant operational growth during the past few years, it needed a more advanced network solution to support its Metro Atlanta headquarters. To facilitate a quick expansion, MACTEC decided to move some of its IT infrastructure into AT&T's IDC, which allows the firm to quickly scale its network for additional growth and take advantage of AT&T's managed services portfolio.
"Our recent growth plus a strong forecast for the construction market required a significant upgrade in our network infrastructure," said Larry White, CIO of MACTEC. "Working with AT&T, we are able to quickly expand our network infrastructure while maintaining our business focus."
MACTEC is a $435 million firm providing a full range of engineering consulting services to more than 7,000 clients worldwide. Ranked 24th on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms, MACTEC has become a leader in the engineering, environmental and remedial construction industries. Operating with 90 U.S. offices and 3,000 employees with specialists in over 50 scientific and engineering disciplines, MACTEC has the resources to perform virtually any scope of work, regardless of location, size or complexity.
