AT&T Inc. Announces New Contract with Olathe Unified School District

Kansas School District Enhances Network Operations

Olathe, Kansas, September 19, 2006

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new optical services contract with Olathe Unified School District (USD), the third-largest district in Kansas serving more than 25,300 students in 47 schools and six support buildings. Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T will serve as the primary optical services provider, delivering AT&T OPT-E-MAN® service, a fully managed, switched Ethernet network service.

The solution will include access to a diverse and reliable wide area network (WAN) that will connect all 53 locations. The high speed network solution will also fulfill the district's need for increased bandwidth in order to support data transport and Internet access. Additionally, the solution's high-performance capabilities will ensure secure and consistent access to critical applications and student records.

The WAN will sustain high-volume communications traffic via the converged network infrastructure. The optical network will enable Olathe USD to continue providing high-availability voice and data connectivity to the district office and its schools. The expanded bandwidth will allow terminal and Web-based applications and future implementation of advanced technologies, such as Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and distance learning.

"We needed a service provider capable of supporting high speed data networking and Internet access," said Richard Markman, assistant director of technology, Olathe District Schools. “The solution implemented by AT&T will not only provide better connectivity for all of our facilities but also support the future implementation of new applications for a richer educational experience."
