AT&T Secures New Contract with Mesquite Independent School District
Texas School District Expands Bandwidth With AT&T
Mesquite, Texas, September 21, 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new optical services contract with Mesquite Independent School District (MISD), which serves more than 35,000 students in East Dallas County, Texas. Under the terms of the contract, AT&T will serve as the primary communications provider and will deliver AT&T GigaMAN® service to all 45 campus locations.
With AT&T GigaMAN service, a dedicated, fiber-optic, point-to-point gigabit Ethernet service, all 45 facilities will be connected to a single unified platform. This solution will allow MISD to implement a high-bandwidth network for reliable, secure communications across East Dallas County. The fiber-based network will provide upgraded bandwidth to the district, enabling MISD to execute advanced applications districtwide, including VoIP and video-on-demand service for an enhanced learning environment.
The new solution will ensure secure and consistent network access for instructors and students. With the converged network infrastructure, MISD will realize the reliability and expanded bandwidth necessary for the deployment of additional applications to increase student enrichment.
