AT&T Ethernet Services Win Heavy Reading Award for Best Product Portfolio

Recognized for Offering the Strongest Bandwidth Options and Performance

Bedminster, New Jersey, November 6, 2006

Reaffirming its industry-leading position with the broadest Ethernet service portfolio and foremost service level agreements, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that AT&T Ethernet services received the Product Portfolio Award from the market research firm, Heavy Reading, at its inaugural Ethernet Service Provider of the Year ceremony.

The award, part of the 2006 Ethernet Expo, recognized AT&T as the service provider that offers the strongest Ethernet services connectivity and applications portfolio. In selecting AT&T Ethernet Services for the award, Heavy Reading examined service providers' bandwidth options, performance and breadth of markets serviced, as well as their demonstrated ability to smoothly migrate customers onto Ethernet from legacy services.

The award was based on dozens of operator interviews to determine the type of infrastructure that Ethernet customers were deploying and what challenges they face.

"AT&T has the broadest Ethernet portfolio in the country, with major services on both the private-line and Ethernet LAN fronts," said Stan Hubbard, analyst for Heavy Reading. "AT&T's flagship OPT-E-MAN® switched Ethernet service is going strong, along with its 10 gigabit DecaMAN® offering," he said, adding that AT&T's Ethernet footprint in North America is equally impressive."

Earlier this year, AT&T added 22 metropolitan locations to its switched Ethernet service area, increasing to 41 the number of metros where the technology is available.

"We are extremely proud of the recognition given to AT&T Ethernet services, as we continue to expand and improve the reach of our Ethernet capabilities," said Sanford Brown, vice president of AT&T.

"AT&T's expanding Ethernet footprint, growing customer demand for faster delivery of applications and ease of interworking with corporate networks — all provided at Ethernet's competitive price advantage — are among the factors behind the explosive growth in the Ethernet market. These aspects, combined with AT&T's industry-leading service level guarantees, will help us further expand AT&T's Ethernet reach to enterprise customers as well as to small and midsize markets," Brown added.

AT&T's Ethernet solutions provide customers with a highly efficient, cost-effective solution for communicating across multiple locations within a metropolitan area. The services are ideal for organizations that want to link buildings in a metropolitan area through broadband connections in order to share information across employees, customers and suppliers, and other users. These solutions also provide expanded service levels that will give businesses a wider selection in the type of service level they want, supporting bandwidths ranging from 5 Mbps up to 10 Gbps.

AT&T Ethernet solutions can be configured in a variety of ways, including point to point, point to multipoint and multipoint to multipoint. Today, businesses use metropolitan Ethernet services for a variety of connectivity options, including dedicated access to the Internet, global access to a Multiprotocol Label Switching platform, private line access to a managed area network or wide area network, network access via SONET or DWDM rings or switched access to a virtual private network.
