New Broadband Option Advances Company's Commitment to Making High Speed Internet Available to More Nevada Consumers and Businesses
Pahrump, Nevada, November 16, 2006
As part of its ongoing commitment to deliver the benefits of broadband Internet service to as many customers as possible, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced the availability of AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet to residents and small businesses in Pahrump.
The new service, delivered over WiMAX-ready wireless broadband technology, will provide a powerful new high speed Internet option for customers in the fast-growing Pahrump community, many of whom do not have access to other broadband options today. The limited offering is part of an ongoing AT&T initiative to develop and deliver promising new technologies that have the potential to extend the reach of broadband in rural, remote and hard-to-reach areas.
"AT&T is fully committed to innovation and development of new technologies that will expand the reach of broadband as widely as possible," said Loretta Walker, AT&T vice president and general manager, Sacramento/North and Nevada Region. "Our deployment of fixed wireless technology in Pahrump is an example of this commitment, as we deliver a valuable new high-speed Internet access offering to residents and businesses."
WiMAX is an emerging fixed and mobile wireless technology that enables delivery of broadband services to homes and small businesses, with speeds that are similar to land line technologies like DSL. With a range of up to several miles from a central tower, WiMAX technology may emerge as an alternative broadband solution for a range of locations where deployment of land line-based technologies is impractical.
Pahrump residents today can order AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet over the fixed wireless network, receiving downstream speeds of up to 1.5 Megabits per second (Mbps) and upstream speeds of up to 384 Kilobits per second, with a monthly price of $29.99. Required equipment is free to customers after rebate.
The fixed wireless-based AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet delivers a unique high speed online experience, including differentiated entertainment-related video content; virtually unlimited e-mail storage; an award-winning parental controls offering; industry-leading safety and security features built into an online protection suite; multiple e-mail addresses; and a core offering of customer-driven features, such as online marketing tools, to further customize the online experience.

Commitment to Broadband Innovation
AT&T today is the nation's leading provider of high speed DSL Internet services, with more than 8.2 million high speed Internet customers. The company also is playing a leading role in development of new and emerging technologies that have the potential to expand the reach of broadband to customers in rural, remote or difficult-to-serve areas, many of which have no DSL or cable broadband services today. The WiMAX-ready deployment in Pahrump joins AT&T fixed wireless deployments in Alaska, Georgia, New Jersey and Texas. The company also offers satellite-based broadband in limited areas today, with additional availability planned for early 2007.
