Keane, Inc. Extends Networking Contract with AT&T to Four Sites in India
Boston, Massachusetts, December 4, 2006
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today that a contract has been signed by AT&T to extend the network of Keane, Inc., a global business process and IT services firm with approximately 50 locations worldwide. Under the new contract, AT&T will unite Keane's four application development centers in India under its core network architecture, AT&T's IP-enabled ATM and Frame Relay network. Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Extending AT&T IP-ATM and Frame Relay to Keane's application development centers will enable more efficient and secure collaboration between these sites and Keane's locations in the United States, Canada and Europe. Most important, Keane will be able to assign and manage projects more efficiently by leveraging employees' skills and knowledge without geographic or technical obstacles. The common network provides sufficient bandwidth to accommodate international videoconferencing and the transfer of graphic and data-rich applications.
The fully meshed nature of the network will also aid in business continuity, security and disaster recovery. All traffic will be monitored, prioritized and routed seamlessly and efficiently through Keane's network. Additionally, the common IP-ATM backbone will eliminate the need for data encryption or tunneling before reaching the India sites.
"The extension of AT&T's IP-ATM and Frame Relay to our sites in India answers our need for a consistent, uniform infrastructure across our global system," said Jason Smith, director, IT for Keane, Inc. "We are confident that the efficiencies of the new network will support faster delivery, more accurate execution and lower cost for our clients."
