Ameritech Declares First-Quarter Dividend of 56.5 Cents

CHICAGO--QThe Ameritech board of directors today declared a regular first-quarter dividend of 56.5 cents per share. The dividend amount is up 6.6% compared with the first quarter 1996, and the same as last quarter. The first-quarter dividend is payable May 1 to shareowners of record March 31.
Ameritech has increased its dividend every year since the company's creation in 1984. The first-quarter dividend, Ameritech's 54th consecutive quarterly dividend, extends the company's record of continuous dividend payments since 1984.
Ameritech has more than 550 million shares outstanding, and 1 million investors hold Ameritech shares. Ameritech has produced 13 consecutive quarters of double-digit profit growth before one-time items.
