HIMSS Names AT&T Healthcare Director to "Fellow" Status

Dallas, Texas, May 14, 2007

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the premier association for leadership in the management of technology, information, and change in healthcare, has named Ralph Randall, director of technology solutions for AT&T Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals, to Fellow status.

Based in Dallas, Randall has been involved with HIMSS since 1989 and is a past president of the Central Florida HIMSS Chapter. Bringing 20 years of telecommunications industry experience, he joined AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) in January and is utilizing the company's technical capabilities to bring the benefits of communications and mobility to healthcare organizations nationwide.

HIMSS has approximately 20,000 members, with only 336 of those achieving Fellow status. Fellows, which must be a member of HIMSS for a minimum of five consecutive years, are recognized for their contributions to the healthcare industry through publications and presentations, and through their professional development and participation in HIMSS.

"HIMSS congratulates Ralph Randall on being named a new Fellow member," said Steve Lieber, HIMSS president/CEO. "These members represent the top leaders driving today's important healthcare information and management systems initiatives."

Randall has worked in the information technology industry for more than 30 years, and, specifically in the healthcare segment, since 1989. His experience includes implementing technology solutions to support such applications as telemedicine and teleradiology. In addition, Randall has developed and implemented IT networks that deliver picture archival communications systems, electronic medical records, patient satisfaction measurement, and community health information, as well as others that integrate voice, images, video and data networking.

"AT&T is committed to providing voice, video, and data network solutions to meet the needs of the healthcare industry," Randall said. "Importantly, we understand and can provide the technology to both share patient information electronically, improving productivity and patient care, and ensure that it remains secure and private — one of the key challenges that doctors and medical organizations face every day. In short, our solutions enable access to critical information anytime, anywhere, and from any device.

Randall, who graduated from Rockland Institute in 1972 with focused studies in computer operations, also is an active member of the American Telemedicine Association, a nonprofit organization that promotes access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology.
