Cymer Signs New Agreement with AT&T
AT&T's Simplified Solution Illuminates Specialty Light Source Provider Through Streamlined Voice, Data and Wireless Services
San Diego, California, May 30, 2007
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today that Cymer, Inc. (Nasdaq:CYMI), has signed a new agreement with AT&T for a three-year contract. Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T will enhance Cymer's voice, data and wireless capabilities with local and long distance voice, wireless and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services.
Cymer delivers deep ultraviolet (DUV) photolithography sources that are essential to today's semiconductor marketplace. Known for its highly narrowed bandwidths, higher processing speeds and reliability, Cymer light sources are the key enabling technology that has allowed the semiconductor industry to meet the exacting specifications and manufacturing requirements for the volume production of today's most advanced semiconductor chips.
Cymer had multiple vendors for voice, data and wireless and was looking to consolidate these services. Additionally, Cymer has 15 international locations that needed to be upgraded in bandwidth and equipment. AT&T has provided a complete communications solution for Cymer with a range of voice, data and wireless services.
AT&T's VPN solution will provide Cymer with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based network services comprising managed and unmanaged locations, along with features such as Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and multicast. AT&T's network services provide Cymer with an integrated solution designed to simplify, streamline and enhance the way it manages the company's enterprise network, while AT&T's wireless portfolio of services and devices gives Cymer even more options to fulfill its mobile voice and data communications needs. Additionally, Cymer will receive improved wide area network (WAN) services from AT&T that will allow the company to run all applications including voice and video over the AT&T network.
"While Cymer has had a long-standing relationship with AT&T, with the new agreement, we expect to realize additional value by aggregating services under one global service provider, as well as superior customer support and service," said Craig Haught, vice president and chief information officer with Cymer. "Consolidation of our voice, data and wireless services, will allow us to receive significant improvement in our network performance and cellular coverage with existing spend. AT&T is helping us to simplify management, improve customer support and realize additional cost-efficiencies."
The agreement renews and expands a long-standing relationship between the two companies that spans 10 years.
