AT&T'S YELLOWPAGES.COM Network Outpaces Rivals
Pasadena, California, June 27, 2007
AT&T's YELLOWPAGES.COM Network1 is growing and gaining market share faster among the top five Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) players, according to a new report. Internet rankings firm comScore recently announced growth figures for the IYP segment of the booming local-search advertising industry. From 1Q06 to 1Q07, the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network (www.yellowpages.com) outperformed its leading IYP competitors in important categories.
Of the top five IYP competitors,2 the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network grew its search volume by 79 percent and was the only IYP to grow at a double-digit pace. This steep growth pushed the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network ahead of Google in local business search volume during 1Q07.
The YELLOWPAGES.COM Network also posted the biggest gain in share of searches, winning an extra 7.3 percent of the overall IYP search volume. Among the five largest competitors, which command more than 70 percent of all IYP searches, the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network was the only one to post a significant share increase.
"The comScore findings are terrific news for our advertisers, yet they don't tell the full story," said Charles Stubbs, CEO of YELLOWPAGES.COM. "The results for the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network do not include the local business searches we also fulfill every month for consumers who use AOL Yellow Pages, as well as Yahoo! Local and Yahoo! Yellow Pages in 22 states."
"Combine the uncounted Yahoo! and AOL traffic with the fact that we led all large competitors in traffic and share growth, and it's clear that YELLOWPAGES.COM is enjoying strong momentum," Stubbs said.
Since early 2006, YELLOWPAGES.COM has implemented key initiatives, including continued enhancements to the site such as interactive mapping, Ratings & Reviews, and key mobile features to reach the growing on-the-go audience. YELLOWPAGES.COM also implemented distribution agreements to feature YELLOWPAGES.COM advertisers on other leading local search sites, an award-winning national advertising campaign, and more. All of these factors have contributed to the growth of YELLOWPAGES.COM.
1The YELLOWPAGES.COM Network as measured in comScore qSearch includes YELLOWPAGES.COM, Switchboard and AnyWho.
2The top five IYPs by search volume were Yahoo! sites, Idearc Media, YELLOWPAGES.COM Network, Google sites and Time Warner Network.
