Ohio Attorney General's Office Selects AT&T Network Services for New Youngstown Office
AT&T Will Connect Offices Throughout State Increasing Criminal Investigation Process Efficiency
Youngstown, Ohio, August 23, 2007
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that the Ohio attorney general's office has selected AT&T to provide advanced network services. For the next five years, AT&T will connect the new Youngstown office to other offices of the attorney general throughout Ohio with AT&T's Optical Ethernet Metropolitan Area Network (OPT-E-MAN).
Cost-effective and flexible, OPT-E-MAN® service provides data transfer rates ranging from 5 Mbps to 1 Gbps across an advanced Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) platform. AT&T's OPT-E-MAN service allows the sharing and processing of images, video and other data-intensive applications on a scalable bandwidth. It makes the criminal investigation process more efficient and improves the legal interests of the state.
More than 98 percent of corporate networks use Ethernet because of its ease of expansion, and OPT-E-MAN service allows the attorney general's office to maintain interoffice connections and add new locations without introducing new protocols. The fiber-based network service also provides higher reliability and security with AT&T's around-the-clock monitoring, and it simplifies network management and increases cost efficiencies.
"As our office continues to grow and meet the needs of Ohio residents, we need the flexibility, reliability and security that only AT&T's network services can provide," said Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann. "The OPT-E-MAN solution provided by AT&T further enables us to focus on our business and not worry about the transfer of client data over our growing office network."
AT&T's Ethernet portfolio recently received industry recognition at the NXTcomm trade show in Chicago. AT&T's entire suite of Ethernet services was certified by the Metro Ethernet Forum's (MEF) test lab and passed the industry association's most stringent MEF-14 evaluation for performance. AT&T also received the "Most Innovative Carrier Ethernet Service (Diversified)" award from New Paradigm Resources Group Inc. and Telephony magazine. The award recognized AT&T for its cutting-edge solutions and demonstration of its forward-thinking innovation.
