Indiana University Southeast Receives $25,000 Grant from AT&T

Students Will Have Access to Enhanced Learning Environment

New Albany, Indiana, December 5, 2007

The AT&T Foundation — the corporate philanthropy organization of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) — today announced a $25,000 AT&T Excelerator grant to Indiana University Southeast for a mobile technology classroom. The grant will provide 30 new laptops, which can be transported to any classroom on campus.

"Technology plays such an important role in education today," said Dr. Sandra Patterson-Randles, chancellor of Indiana University Southeast. "The AT&T grant gives us the opportunity to enhance learning through an improved classroom environment."

Indiana University Southeast is a regional campus of Indiana University that serves mainly south central Indiana and Louisville, Ky. The university is committed to the intellectual growth of students, and the new mobile classroom will allow the students to benefit from instructional technology in the classroom.

"I'm pleased to see AT&T and Indiana University Southeast working together to help students reach their full potential," said Rep. Bill Cochran. "This program will help students learn and give them more of the tools they need to succeed."

"AT&T is committed to helping organizations leverage technology to improve education," said George S. Fleetwood, president, AT&T Indiana. "We commend Indiana University Southeast for its efforts, and we look forward to watching this program help students thrive in the classroom."

Since 2002, the AT&T Excelerator program has provided more than 2,500 technology grants — totaling more than $47.8 million — to organizations across the country. In 2007, 680 regional and local nonprofit organizations nationwide have benefited from nearly $9 million through the competitive program. This year, the AT&T Foundation expanded the Excelerator grant program for the first time to include AT&T Southeast's nine-state service area.

The AT&T Excelerator program provides technology access to organizations working to strengthen underserved communities. Helping nonprofits integrate technology into their operations and community outreach, AT&T Excelerator grants also place technology tools in the hands of the underserved populations that the nonprofits work with in order to provide resources such as education programs, Internet access, computer training and job-skills development.

In 2006, AT&T Inc. and the AT&T Foundation contributed more than $101 million to nonprofit organizations across the country. With its strong giving record, the AT&T Foundation ranks among the most generous corporate foundations in the United States.
