AT&T Mobility Arrives in Plattsburgh on January 15th
Plattsburgh, New York, January 13, 2009
AT&T Mobility is providing customers in the Plattsburgh area a new way to experience and shop for wireless communications and entertainment services at its newly re-branded company-owned location at 45 Smithfield Boulevard in Plattsburgh, New York.
The Plattsburgh store, previously a Unicel location, joined the company's fleet during AT&T Mobility's December 2008 acquisition of Unicel assets in New York and Vermont.
This transaction also gave the company ownership of wireless network territories in Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Hamilton and Fulton Counties. Cell sites in these areas, including the communities of Johnstown, Gloversville, Malone, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Blue Mountain Lake will be integrated into the AT&T Mobility network later this year.
"Improving wireless service in the North Country not only serves a critically important public safety need, but also ensures we are economically competitive with other regions of the state and country," said Senator Betty Little. "AT&T's announcement today is great news for tech-savvy consumers and businesses looking for more services, better coverage and a wider variety of products."
"We are thrilled to be able to offer our lineup of innovative products and services to our new customers in the North Country," said Bob Holliday, vice president and general manager of AT&T Mobility in upstate New York. "We are committed to providing a quality experience to legacy Unicel customers in the area who will be transitioning to AT&T Mobility over the next year."
The company will begin offering the full slate of AT&T Mobility products and services in Plattsburgh — including the highly anticipated iPhone 3G — on January 15. AT&T Mobility plans to add additional distribution points for its customers throughout the North Country in the coming weeks.
The new Plattsburgh AT&T Mobility store features live iPhone demo units and interactive displays featuring a variety of products and services including new Quick Messaging devices like the Samsung Propel and the Pantech Matrix.
The Plattsburgh store will celebrate its grand opening on January 15th with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 9 am.
