AT&T Commences Provisioning of AT&T Global Managed Internet Service in India

New Delhi, India — AT&T* has commenced provisioning of AT&T Global Managed Internet Service (GMIS) in India. The service will help meet the growing demand from multinational customers in India for globally consistent Internet access applications.
AT&T GMIS enables businesses to link multi-national sites through a dedicated direct, high-speed Internet connection. The service is available through private leased line in more than 50 countries and is now extended to India. It provides single-source Internet access backed by world-class customer support, around-the-clock management and industry-acclaimed service availability.
AT&T GMIS includes an end-to-end, managed Internet connectivity option for the customers. AT&T's end-to-end management starts from AT&T Global Internet Protocol (IP) Network to the optional managed routers on customers' premises. Customers' Internet traffic patterns are analyzed and AT&T GMIS can be configured according to the customers' specifications. Alternatively, customers can provision and maintain their own equipment.
AT&T GMIS offers fixed rate or usage-based billing options to match fluctuating traffic requirements to suit customers' business needs.

The availability of AT&T GMIS is another commitment from AT&T to the India market. AT&T recently announced the opening of its first data centre in Bangalore, India in December 2008. Data centre customers will have access to a wide range of fully integrated managed hosting, application and networking services to support their data and e-commerce needs. Connectivity to the centre can be supported via AT&T's existing suite of managed data services in India.
In October 2006, AT&T became the first global telecom operator to secure national long distance and international long distance licenses in India through AT&T Global Network Services India, an AT&T India joint venture. AT&T Global Network Services India began commercial services in early 2007 and has the capability of providing global customers operating in India with the same standard of communications services that they enjoy elsewhere in the world. In November 2007, India was designated as a separate operating region, to optimize focus on the burgeoning demand for telecom services in India.
