This is particularly true when it comes to our data center operations," said Chris Rice, executive vice president for Shared Services, AT&T Operations. "Growing energy costs and an increased need for data center power can make data center efficiency a challenge, but we're constantly working to make incremental improvements, and we're honored to be recognized for these efforts."
In addition to working to manage the energy consumption of its data centers, AT&T is committed to collaborating with industry groups to develop new approaches to measuring and improving energy efficiency. AT&T also supplies data center performance information to assist the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in developing a new ENERGY STAR rating for data center infrastructure.
Membership in The Green Grid and participation in the ENERGY STAR data center initiative underscore AT&T's commitment to minimize the environmental impact of its operations and to work collaboratively with industry organizations and suppliers to identify optimal solutions and best practices. AT&T is also a member of the Alliance for Telecommunication Industry Solutions (ATIS), a technical planning and standards development organization that works to develop and promote technical and operations standards for the communications and related information technologies industries worldwide.
