Republic Services Inks $13.5 Million Deal for AT&T Network Services
Phoenix, Arizona, June 30, 2009
Today, AT&T* announced that Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG) a leading provider of solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services, has awarded AT&T a three-year $13.5 million contract to be its primary networking services provider. Seeking network reliability and a single provider solution, Republic Services chose AT&T network services to support the integration and consolidation of Republic Services and Allied Waste, which merged in December 2008 to form the second largest environmental services provider in the U.S.
AT&T will provide Virtual Private Network (VPN) service for Republic Services’ 759-site domestic Wide Area Network (WAN) environment consisting of corporate headquarters, data centers, call centers, regional offices, transfer stations and landfills. AT&T’s network will support all of Republic Services’ domestic infrastructure and communication needs including voice, data and video. AT&T services will help Republic to simplify companywide communications and support improvements in customer service.
"With the AT&T network, we know we have the best technology in place to continue building on the momentum of our newly merged company," said Bill Halnon, chief information officer of Republic Services. "We're confident in AT&T's ability to deliver a consistent, reliable and secure network experience across our enterprise."
Republic Services also will have around-the-clock access to real-time information about the performance of its networking services and a direct connection to electronic billing and ordering systems through the reliable and award-winning AT&T BusinessDirect® portal.
