AT&T Delivers Global Collaboration with Telepresence at Customer Regional Advisory Council for Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America
AT&T Telepresence Solution and Cisco Telepresence(TM) Rooms Connect Meeting Participants Across U.S., Canada, Brazil and Belgium
Miami, Florida, June 17, 2009
AT&T* delivered the benefits of conducting part of the Americas Regional Advisory Council (RAC) customer meeting via the AT&T Telepresence Solution, with participants joining the meeting held in Miami via Cisco TelePresence locations in Toronto, Sao Paulo, Brussels, Bedminster, NJ and Houston, TX.
AT&T's Americas RAC meeting held twice a year, brings together up to 20 regional and global customers who make up the advisory council to discuss a wide range of issues - from service quality and support to new products and investment plans for emerging markets. While the meeting was held in Miami, AT&T specialists from other locations in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Belgium joined it via telepresence, offering their expertise through a virtual 'face-to-face' environment. "The regional advisory council sessions are critical in terms of getting direct, valuable feedback from our customers. Telepresence helped us enrich the experience and participation at the meetings, and allowed AT&T's subject-matter experts to join from multiple locations across the world to listen to our clients' needs and priorities, as well as to bring their points of view about key trends in today's communications world. This type of 'blended presence' – both in person and virtual attendees – maximizes our time, our resources and our insights. " said Mary Livingston, AT&T's vice president for the Canada, Caribbean and Latin America region.
Using the AT&T Telepresence Solution and several Cisco TelePresence rooms, the meeting involved 14 customers from global and regional companies with presence in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, other South American countries, Central America and the Caribbean, along with more than ten AT&T specialists located in multiple locations in the Americas and Europe.
"By using Cisco TelePresence and the AT&T Telepresence Solution, AT&T could help ensure greater participation in its regional advisory council meeting and save money on travel. In addition, AT&T received the benefit of remote AT&T experts who wouldn't have been able to join in person in Miami," said Wallace Chan, director of information technology, Cisco. "With one simple and secure phone call, AT&T was able to conduct the meeting in person, scale the meeting globally and improve its carbon footprint."
AT&T Telepresence Solution leverages the power of Cisco TelePresence to create a unique, in-person collaboration experience with the simplicity of making a phone call. AT&T Telepresence Solution importantly provides a "meet-me" feature with a highly-secure PIN code that enables simple and secure intercompany Cisco TelePresence meetings. The managed solution also offers multipoint functionality and reliable intercompany capabilities enabling multiple locations to connect with one another.
AT&T recently announced plans to double the number of its own AT&T Telepresence Solution rooms worldwide to 50 by the end of 2009.
