From the day the federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 was passed, SBC has worked closely with state and federal regulators - and with competitors - to open its local markets to competition.
After careful review, the FCC has determined that all SBC local phone companies in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin have fully and irreversibly opened their local networks to competitors.
