What is Softcard?

Softcard is a free2 mobile app that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to let you pay and save at select stores with just a tap of your smartphone.

The Softcard app holds eligible payment cards, delivers money-saving offers, and stores loyalty program information so they are always with you.



Layers of security to protect your information

Softcard uses state-of-the-art technology and multiple layers of security to protect your information.

You select a unique PIN that you enter each time you open the app.

Lock App Remotely
If your phone is lost or stolen, one call to AT&T or a click at can disable your Softcard account.

Secure element
Payment information is stored on a special chip in your phone. This chip is designed specifically for the Softcard app and restricts unauthorized access.

Protective ID
A unique transaction ID is sent with each payment, making it more difficult to counterfeit your card.

Personal privacy
What you buy is between you and the stores where you shop.

What you need to get started

To set up the Softcard app, just follow these steps:


1. Prep
To use the app, you need a compatible phone with a secure element SIM.


To check your phone for a secure element SIM card, remove the SIM and look for a gray mark in the bottom-right corner.

To get your free secure element SIM card, visit an AT&T retail store near you.

2. Activate Softcard
The app is available for download or updates on Google Play™ and Windows Phone Store. Just follow the prompts to get started.



3. Add payment cards
Add your eligible cards. Some cards might require your online banking username and password.

To use Softcard, just follow these steps:

1. Look for the contactless symbol

You can pay with Softcard anywhere contactless payments are accepted.

2. Get ready to check out

Open the Softcard app and enter your 4-digit PIN. To use an offer, simply select the offer and follow the on-screen directions. Not all offers require a tap to receive your savings.



Loyalty membership information loaded into the app can be shown to the cashier. At stores that use SmartTap™ technology, your loyalty rewards will be applied automatically when you tap to pay.


3. Tap and pay

To pay, select the payment card you’d like to use. Tap by holding the back of your phone over the contactless symbol at checkout when prompted by the cashier.

1. Does it cost anything to download or use the Softcard™ app?

The Softcard app is free to download, and there are no fees to use Softcard. You may incur data charges based on your wireless rate plan when you download the app and use it.

2. Do all NFC-capable phones work with Softcard?

No, transactions are processed Over the Air (OTA) for validation.

5. What if I need support?
