Should I cancel my U-verse service if I'm moving?

You don’t need to cancel your AT&T services when you move. In fact, it’s easier to just move your service to a new address. You can transfer U-verse services locally or, if you're moving farther, use our online app to make the move. For information on all of your options, visit

How quickly can I switch services or set up new services at my new home?

It takes only a few minutes online to arrange a move to your new address. You can select an installation date convenient for you. You will receive an email within 24 hours of letting us know about your move to confirm AT&T services at your new home and your installation date.

Can I keep my phone number?

You may be able to keep your telephone number at your new home. After you move services to your new home, we will let you know if you can keep your existing telephone number or help you to choose a new one.

Does it cost anything to transfer services to my new address?

Usually there is no charge to switch services to your new home. If you are moving U-verse TV service, professional standard installation is included at no additional charge. Installation includes an AT&T Wi-Fi gateway and connecting of at least one computer and any additional devices connected to your gateway. Installation also includes the use of existing, or If required, new wiring for the first three TV receivers in your new home. To connect more than three TV receivers or new computers, additional charges will apply based on labor and materials needed. U-verse TV service can support up to eight total TV receivers; one receiver per TV is required.

There is no charge for transferring other AT&T services unless a change in service level or equipment occurs.

Will an installation technician be required to come to my home?

If you are moving U-verse TV service, an installation technician is required to come to your new home but there is no additional charge. If you are moving other services to your new home, you may be able to self-install them.

How do I make changes to my service when I move?

Using our online tool, you can easily make changes to your U-verse service and equipment.

How do I check on my order and equipment status?

Checking on the details or status of your order is easy at the U-verse order status center.

Can I take my equipment with me to my new home?

If U-verse is available at your new address, you can take your equipment with you. If U-verse is not available at your new address, you will need to return the equipment. For additional information on returning your U-verse equipment, please visit our support site at

What if U-verse is not available at my new address?

Is there an early termination fee when I move from my current location?

You will not be charged an early service cancellation fee when you have existing U-verse services and move to an area where U-verse is not available.
