What is HD Voice?

HD Voice technology delivers high-quality voice calls across the AT&T 4G LTE network. With HD Voice (within markets where HD Voice is deployed) you’ll experience clearer voice quality and reduced background noise. You can talk in a normal voice and be heard clearly even in noisy environments. Conversations will sound more natural, almost as if the person at the other end of the line is right there next to you. And with HD Voice, you can talk while surfing at 4G LTE speeds.

How do I use HD Voice?

Both you and the person you’re calling must be AT&T customers on postpaid plans using properly provisioned AT&T HD Voice-capable devices while in an AT&T HD Voice coverage area.

How will I know I’m on an HD Voice call?

HD Voice has crystal clear sound and reduced background noise.

How is HD Voice different from standard voice?

HD Voice uses wide-band audio technology and noise cancellation. That means voices sound more natural and you’ll hear much less background noise compared to standard voice calls.

When will AT&T have nationwide HD Voice coverage and be available in my area?

We’re enabling HD Voice service on a market-by-market basis. Check back regularly to att.com/hdvoice for HD Voice availability and coverage information.

Can I make an HD Voice call with someone who’s not with AT&T?

At this time HD Voice calls are only available between AT&T customers using AT&T HD Voice-capable devices within AT&T HD Voice coverage areas.

What happens if I travel outside of the AT&T HD Voice coverage area?

If you or the person you’re talking with travel outside the HD Voice coverage area during an HD Voice call, your call automatically switches to our standard voice service.

How much does HD Voice service cost?

There is no additional cost for AT&T HD Voice service. HD Voice is one more way AT&T is building a better network for our customers.

What devices support HD Voice?

AT&T offers top-rated devices featuring cutting-edge technology and will have more information on HD Voice-capable devices as they become available to our customers. Visit att.com/hdvoice to see our current selection of HD Voice-capable devices.

Can I use my current device to get HD Voice?

You’ll need an HD Voice-capable device to get HD Voice service. HD Voice-capable devices are designed to enhance voice quality and cancel background noise. Visit att.com/hdvoice to see our current selection of HD Voice-capable devices.

Can I purchase an HD Voice-capable device if I’m not in an HD Voice area?

Yes. Our HD Voice-capable devices are available nationwide. However, your area must have HD Voice coverage before your device is enabled with HD Voice.

Can I use HD Voice internationally?

At this time, HD Voice from AT&T is not available internationally.

Can I use my HD Voice-capable device internationally?

As with all smartphones from AT&T, the devices can be used internationally but not all features and services may be available. See att.com/international for more information.

Are there services or features that are not compatible with HD Voice?

Yes. Currently, the following features/services are incompatible with HD Voice service: GoPhone® prepaid service, Smart Limits, Ringback Tones, and OfficeDirect, and OfficeReach (for business customers).
