How it works

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) works by plugging your high speed Internet connection into a set-top box that's connected to your television. Once the connection is made, the set-top box assembles the code from your phone line into video and audio. AT&T U-verse broadcasts in both standard definition and high definition. Each TV in the home must be hooked up to a set-top box in order to receive the signal.

Along with delivering television services, IPTV also delivers a high speed Internet connection and when available phone service that includes all the features you expect plus more. This idea of bundling all three services is commonly referred to as a "triple play."
