An unlocked mobile device can be used on any available network instead of being limited to a single network. Follow along with this tutorial to identify whether or not your device has carrier restrictions.

From Settings, tap My device.

Scroll to Device unlock.
3.
Tap Device unlock.
From this screen, you can view the carrier lock status of your device. A carrier locked device can only access the mobile network from that carrier.
