Create, Edit, or Delete a Group (Distribution) List with the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 using Handheld Software Version 6.0

Prerequisite 

Individual contact entries must be created prior to creating a group (distribution) list. 

 

Create a group
NOTE: Outlook contacts will not synchronize with the BlackBerry device. They must be created from the device.

1. On the Home screen, scroll to and select the Contacts icon  (to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen).
2. Press the Menu key, then select New Group.
     
     
3. Enter the desired group (distribution list) name.
     
     
4. Press the Menu key, then select Add Member.
   NOTE:  Alternatively, tap the Add Member icon .
     
     
5. Scroll to and select the desired contact.
    
     
• If there are multiple addresses associated with the contact, scroll to and select the desired address.
    
    
6. The "New Group" screen will be displayed with the contact added as a new member.
   NOTE: Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add more members the the list.
     
        
7. Press the Menu key, then select Save Group.
   NOTE:  Alternatively, tap the Save Group icon .
   

Edit a group

1. On the Home screen, scroll to and select the Contacts icon  (to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen).
2. Highlight the desired group (distribution) list from the address book.
    
     
3. Press the Menu key, then scroll to and select Edit Group.   
     
     
4. Scroll to the desired group contact, press the Menu key, then select the desired option:
     
• View Member: View a group member's details.
1. The desired member information will be displayed. 
• Change Member: Remove a member from the list, and replace it with another contact.
1. Scroll to and select the desired replacement contact.
• If there are multiple addresses associated with the contact, scroll to and select the desired address.  
• Delete Member: Remove a member from the list.
1. Press the Menu key, then select Delete Member.
2. A confirmation screen will be displayed.  Scroll to and select Delete.
• Add Member: Add a member to the list.
1. Scroll to and select the desired contact.
• If there are multiple addresses associated with the contact, scroll to and select the desired address.
     
5. Press the Menu key, then select Save Group.
   NOTE:  Alternatively, tap the Save Group icon .
     

Delete a group

1. On the Home screen, scroll to and select the Contacts icon  (to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen).
2. Highlight the desired group (distribution) list from the address book.
     
     
3. Press the Menu key, the select Delete Group.
   NOTE:  Alternatively, tap the Delete icon .
          
     
4. A confirmation screen will be displayed. Scroll to and select Delete.
     
     
5. The group will be removed from the contacts list.
   NOTE: Deleting a group does not delete individual contacts from the address book.
