Lock or Unlock the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810

IMPORTANT: The device will automatically perfom a master reset if the password is incorrectly entered 10 times (Default).

Lock or unlock the keypad

• Press the Lock button at the top of the device to wake the device or put in sleep mode.
  NOTE: From the home screen, open the All tray, and then select Password Lock to lock the device with a password.

Unlock the device with a password 

1. Press any key.
2. Select Unlock.
3. Enter the password, and then press the Enter key or the trackpad.  

Enable or disable password security lock

1. On the home screen, open the All tray, and then select .
2. Select Security.
         
    
3. Select Password.
      
      
4. Select Enable (Check) to password protect your device. To "Disable" password protection, Select Enable again (Uncheck), press the Menu key, and then select Save (You will be prompted to enter the current password to confirm).
   NOTE: If this device is registered on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BES Express, the IT/BES Administrator may have pushed an IT Policy to the handheld to automatically enable the Password Security Lock. If this is the case, there will not be an option to enable/disable the Password Security Lock and the following icon  will be displayed in the Enable field. For more information on the enabled IT Policies, please contact your IT/BES Administrator.
    
    
5. If desired, configure the additional security fields:
   

   Field	Description
   Enable	Enable or disable the password security lock feature.
   Set/Change Password	Set or change the password. (To set a password you will be prompted to enter the desired password, and then to re-enter the password. To change the password you will first be prompted to enter the old password and then enter/re-enter the desired password.)
   Number of Password Attempts	Set the number of incorrect password attempts allowed before the device is automatically wiped.
   Lock After	Set the length of time between actions before the device is locked.
   Prompt on Application Install	Enable or disable the device to request a password when installing applications. NOTE: This option is only editable when a password is set to Enable.
   Allow Outgoing Calls While Locked	Enable or disable the ability to place outbound calls while locked. NOTE: This option is only editable when a password is set to Enable.
   Lock Handheld Upon Holstering	Enable or disable the automatic lock when placing the device in a holster or dock. NOTE: This option is only editable when a password is set to Enable.

     
6. Press the Menu key, and then select Save.
