Send, Receive, or Delete a Text Message (SMS) with the AT&T Z331

Send SMS
  1. From the standby screen, press Menu.


  2. Select Messaging.


  3. Select Create Message.


  4. To send to a recipient not in the Address Book:
    1. Manually enter the number to send to.
      • If sending a message to a number within the U.S., use the mandatory 10-digit pattern (Example: "4075551212").
      • If sending a message to an international number, enter "011" or enter a "+" followed by the correct country code and number.

  5. To send to a recipient stored in the Address Book:
    1. Select Contacts.   
          

         
    2. Highlight the desired recipient(s), and press Check.  


    3. Once all desired recipients are Checked, press Done.  


       
  6. Enter the body of the message, then select Send.


Receive SMS

  1. To read a message when it first arrives:
    1. Press View.  Press the Back to dismiss the notification.
         

  2. To read a message later:
    1. From the standby screen, press Menu.


    2. Select Messaging.


    3. Select Inbox.


    4. Highlight the desired message and press Select.


    5. The message will be displayed.


Delete SMS

  1. From the standby screen, select Menu.


  2. Select Messaging.


  3. Select Inbox.


  4. Select Options.


  5. Scroll to and select Delete.


  6. Select the desired option.
    NOTE: In this example, we will delete all text messages.


  7. Highlight the desired message to delete and select Check.


  8. Once all desired messages have been Checked, select Done.


  9. Select Yes to confirm deletion.

 Unable to send or receive SMS

  1. Verify that the message center number is programmed correctly.
  2. Verify that SMS blocking and other dialing restrictions are disabled.
  3. Power the device off and back on.
  4. Attempt to send or receive a text message again.
  5. If further assistance is needed, please contact Customer Care.
