Corporate Citizenship
SBC Foundation

The SBC Foundation - the company's philanthropic arm - has connected SBC communities for 20 years. Since 1984, SBC Communications and the SBC Foundation have contributed more than $1 billion in contributions, grants, United Way funding and employee programs that include the SBC Foundation Scholarship Program and matching gift program.

The SBC Foundation funds programs that strive to:

  • Increase access to information technologies
  • Broaden technology training and professional skills development
  • Integrate new technologies to enhance education and economic development

From 1998 to 2003, nearly $328 million has been contributed to diverse community-based organizations through SBC Foundation grant programs. The Chronicle of Philanthropy and Foundation Center have consistently ranked the SBC Foundation among the nation's top five corporate foundations.

Funding Priorities
In 2004, most SBC Foundation grant making will be focused on special grants programs, including SBC Excelerator.
