AT&T Opens New Northland Store in Kansas City

Spacious, Interactive Shoal Creek Store Features Cutting-Edge Devices

Kansas City, Missouri, December 02, 2011

AT&T* today marked the opening of a new store in the Shoal Creek area of the Northland designed to address the growing demand for advanced wireless and wired products and services this holiday season.

The new store is located at 9152 Northeast Barry Road in Kansas City, Mo., which is near the northwest corner of U.S. 152 and Flintrock Road. The Shoal Creek Shopping Center store is 3,847 square feet – more than twice the size of a previous location at 8414 N. Church St.

The new store features a state-of-the-art, hands-on design to engage shoppers and provide a “try before you buy” service experience. Trained consultants will provide demonstrations of a wide range of products and services, including the latest in smartphones such as the HTC Vivid™ and Samsung Galaxy S™ II Skyrocket™, which are designed for AT&T’s blazing-fast new 4G LTE** network in Kansas City.

Customers can also test drive various wireless data applications, including AT&T Navigator, which provides GPS navigation with turn-by-turn directions, or AT&T Family Map, a family locator service designed to help give parents peace of mind.

AT&T U-verseSM services, which include AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice, also are available. Consumers say AT&T U-verse® TV outperforms all competitors in customer satisfaction in the region including Missouri and Kansas, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction StudySM

“AT&T has a robust lineup of powerful smartphones, tablets and other devices and services to address our customers’ needs, whether it’s for work or entertainment, this holiday season,” said Nancy Garvey, vice president and general manager of AT&T’s Greater Midwest Region. “When customers walk into our retail stores we’re not just trying to sell them a product, we’re trying to provide them a solution. That’s fulfilling our retail promise.”

AT&T recently implemented its "Retail Promise" program to ensure that customers have the very best in-store shopping experience, based on their needs. The company uses its own wireless technology to quickly capture customers' comments, and posts this information to an internal site for store managers to review.

The new Northland store is led by store manager Tim Lynch and has a staff trained to assist both consumer and business customers with purchasing decisions, customer service and technical support. Regular store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The phone number is 1-816-781-2400.

The Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a grand opening event at the store beginning 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2. In addition, KFKF-FM 94.1 is scheduled to conduct a radio remote at the store from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 3.

“AT&T’s new store not only provides jobs and services for the local economy, it also demonstrates that major companies such as AT&T continue to see the Northland as a choice location for business,” said Sheila Tracy, president of the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We welcome AT&T’s continuing support for this thriving area.”

AT&T operates two retail stores in the Northland and more than 2,200 company-owned stores nationwide.

“The new Northland store is part of a wider company initiative to integrate our broad array of cutting-edge products and services with a more convenient, streamlined approach to the way customers interact with and purchase our products,” said John Sondag, president of AT&T Missouri.

The Northland store builds upon AT&T’s ongoing investment in the Kansas City region. AT&T invested more than $525 million in its Kansas City area wireless and wireline networks from 2008 through 2010, part of a total investment of nearly $2.3 billion in Missouri and Kansas combined during that period.
