McGladrey Empowers All 6,500 Employees with New Tablets

AT&T Mobility Solutions Services Supports Entire Deployment, Providing Professional Services and Implementation Expertise

When McGladrey LLP, the nation’s fifth largest assurance, tax and accounting firm, decided to roll out tablets to all 6,500 of its employees, the firm called on the experience and expertise of AT&T’s Mobility Solutions Services (MSS) team. AT&T* worked with McGladrey to get the new devices up and running, train service desk professionals and set up a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution – all in less than two months.

McGladrey provides tax, assurance and consulting services for clients across a range of industries in both the private and the public sector. The company’s executives recognized that equipping its employees with tablet computers could give them a sense of empowerment and, at the same time, enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of their work with clients.

Getting the tablets ready for business use, however, was no easy task. McGladrey turned to longtime service provider AT&T to take charge of staging and kitting the 6,500 tablets, which involved unwrapping the devices, testing them, loading a set of business applications, repackaging and applying asset tags to each device. AT&T accomplished all this in just 12 days – exceeding McGladrey’s initial target of two weeks.

McGladrey also needed a way to keep track of the tablets and protect data on employees’ devices. The firm chose a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution from AT&T that allows its IT managers to remotely wipe information from lost or stolen devices, monitor and enforce security policies, gain insight into employees’ application downloads and more.

In addition, AT&T trained McGladrey’s service desk professionals to support deployment of the tablets going forward. Today, McGladrey’s employees can receive assistance both by contacting the help desk and by accessing useful resources provided by AT&T on the company’s intranet.
