AT&T U-verse Easy Remote Wins Gold at Edison Awards

Interactive App is Recognized for Innovation

AT&T* was recognized for its advances in innovation with a Gold 2013 Edison Award™ for the U-verse Easy Remote app. AT&T took home the top prize in the “Electronics & Computers, Entertainment” category during the awards ceremony and gala dinner at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom in Chicago. The Edison Awards are among the most prestigious accolades honoring excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design and innovation.

It’s a great example of how we’re creating new applications that enhance the entertainment experience for our customers.”

The U-verse Easy Remote App is an intuitive and innovative app that enables customers to easily turn their compatible device into a U-verse remote control with voice control functionality. Designed with accessibility in mind, the U-verse Easy Remote App also assists and enhances the U-verse TV experience for seniors and customers who are vision or hearing impaired or have low physical dexterity. Through gesture and speech recognition, the app provides users with multiple options to create the best interaction experience for their needs.

The U-verse Easy Remote App was developed by researchers at AT&T Labs.  The Labs organization is home to some of the world’s best scientists and engineers who focus their unique research capabilities and expertise on enabling the network and empowering users with innovations, such as the Easy Remote app.

U-verse Easy Remote has also been recognized with a 2013 Access Award from the American Foundation for the Blind, the TelcoTV Vision Award for “Best Innovation in Consumer Viewing Experiences,” and the TV Connect Award for “Best TV App,” as well as named a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards honoree in the new Accessible and Universal Design Technologies product category.
