AT&T Announces New Contract with Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Voice and Data Networking Upgrade to Enhance GCRTA's 911 Emergency Services

Cleveland, Ohio, March 10, 2006

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) announced today a new voice and data networking contract with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), one of the largest public transportation providers in the United States, servicing 1.4 million people and encompassing 59 municipalities in Cleveland.

Under terms of the three-year contract, AT&T will provide a new Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) to increase redundancy and reliability of GCRTA's voice and data network. Additional upgraded services will provide a foundation to support the recent enhancement of GCRTA's 911 emergency services. Together, these services provide a solution that aligns with AT&T's convergence strategy, enabling increased redundancy for GCRTA's voice and data network and additional support for GCRTA's emergency services.

With the adoption of AT&T's services, GCRTA's employees will be better-equipped to support the 52.7 million passenger trips made each year. GCRTA's fleet, which includes 624 buses and 108 train cars, covers a service area of 458 square miles with 1.4 million residents and is operated by 2,753 employees. This project will also help prepare GCRTA to meet the needs of its customers well into the next century.

"We recently upgraded our emergency services and needed a reliable provider to help support those enhancements," said Hamid R. Manteghi, CIO, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. "We're confident that AT&T will provide the level of redundancy we require to ensure success of this project and deliver cost-effective customer service."
