AT&T Secures New Five-Year Contract with Dallas County

IP Networking Solution Provides Voice and Data Management for Growing Dallas County

Dallas, Texas, April 5, 2006

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new contract to provide an IP networking solution to Dallas County, Texas. Dallas County has experienced tremendous growth over the past few decades, with a population of more than 2 million.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T will provide Dallas County with a converged IP network which will improve efficiency and management of the county's voice and data traffic. The solution, which includes an optical switched Ethernet service (OPT-E-MAN®), allows the county to prioritize voice and data traffic using optical transport to provide streamlined communications across locations. The converged IP network solution also aligns with AT&T's convergence strategy. As a result, the county will be positioned to easily add and support bandwidth intensive applications to serve the citizens of Dallas County. Additionally, voice service is provided through centralized ISDN-PRI.

"Due to our continued growth, we needed a flexible, IP telephony solution that could support bandwidth intensive applications at multiple locations," said Chris Thompson, director of communications for Dallas County. "With AT&T, we'll be able to maximize our efficiency using a highly reliable and flexible network at a cost-effective price. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with AT&T."
