AT&T Announces Voice and Data Services Contract with the Wayne Township Fire Department

Voice and Data Solutions Support Voip, Increasing Reliability for Indianapolis-Area Fire Department

Indianapolis, Indiana, June 16, 2006

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new voice and data services contract, making AT&T the primary provider for the Wayne Township Fire Department, which serves Marion County, Ind.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T will replace Wayne Township Fire Department's existing wireless solution with a dedicated, managed Ethernet solution to optimize both voice and data traffic. The implementation of AT&T OPT-E-MAN® service and an Integrated Service Digital Network Primary Rate Interface (ISDN PRI) will ensure connectivity among the fire department's seven locations, and will provide increased security and reliability through the converged network infrastructure.

The integration of a managed Ethernet solution will provide the department with increased bandwidth, which will be capable of supporting VoIP applications and will fulfill the fire department's need for a reliable and redundant network. As a result, the fire department will be able to improve response time through more efficient communications, both internally and externally.

In addition, the new services will help keep the fire department compliant with the technology standards that are required by the state of Indiana.

"We needed a voice and data solution capable of providing secure connectivity among our seven locations and supporting new applications, such as VoIP," said Steve Cochran, director of Information Services of Wayne Township Fire Department. "We are confident that AT&T's solution will not only allow us to keep up with government agency technology requirements but also enable us to deliver improved service to our community."
