AT&T Expanding Wireless Coverage in New Hampshire; 11 New Cell Sites Planned for the State This Year
Investment in New Hampshire Wireless Network During the Past Three Years Surpasses $18 Million
Nashua, New Hampshire, August 29, 2007
AT&T (NYSE:T) has announced a planned investment of 11 new cell sites in the state of New Hampshire this year. This will bring the company's three-year investment in the state's wireless network to more than $18 million.
"AT&T's investment in New Hampshire is important to our state's economic development efforts. We are a great state to work, live and do business in and our residents and businesses rely on critical wireless communications. It is important that we continue to promote investments like these in our state," said Michael A. Vlacich, Director, New Hampshire Division of Economic Development.
This year, AT&T has already turned on two new cell sites in Swanzey to expand coverage along state highways 32 and 10, as well as the surrounding areas.
Nine additional cell sites planned for New Hampshire this year will enhance wireless coverage for AT&T customers in a number of areas, including Dartmouth College and throughout downtown Hanover.
Three new sites are coming to Keene. They will augment coverage in the downtown area near Keene State College as well as along state highways 9 West and 12 North.
Other planned sites include: Concord; near the junction of routes 89 and 93; Chesterfield, along state Highway 9; Hudson, in the areas south of town along Route 3A; Allenstown, along state Highway 3 and near Henniker College, as well as along state highways 202 and 9.
"Our goal is to ensure that AT&T customers have the very best wireless experience possible — which includes unmatched coverage and quality of service," said Steve Krom, AT&T's vice president and general manager for wireless operations in New England. "Our ongoing investment in the New Hampshire network gives customers the benefits of a state-of-the-art voice and data network along with cutting-edge wireless devices."
During the past three years, AT&T has delivered dramatic change in New Hampshire — a direct result of the company's continuing efforts to expand and enhance its network operations and the synergies that come from being part of the world's largest communications company.
The 2007 investment focuses primarily on expanding voice capacity and enhancing the EDGE (Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution) data network, which offers faster download speeds for consumers and business users. The expansion also gives the company additional bandwidth to support its growing customer base and increased voice and data usage.
AT&T diligently monitors the quality and coverage of its network. In addition to third-party vendors that assess the company's network performance, AT&T wireless network engineers constantly monitor the network and drive tens of thousands of miles throughout New Hampshire each year to ensure that the network is operating at peak efficiency.
