AT&T Secures Network Services Contract with Aviagen

Secure Network and Data Services Provided by AT&T Conducive to International Business

Huntsville, Alabama, January 11, 2008

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced a new contract to provide advanced network services to Aviagen. With headquarters in Huntsville, Aviagen is a leading international poultry-breeding company with facilities in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, AT&T will serve as the primary network and data services provider for Aviagen and will use Internet Protocol (IP) Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to connect Aviagen's United States facility to its facility in Brazil.

The enhanced bandwidth capacity of the VPN service provided by AT&T will meet Aviagen's demand for fast, secure data transfers between the company's offices. The expanded network services will further allow Aviagen to confidently share business-critical corporate and research information between facilities.

"As Aviagen's communications requirements continued to expand, we needed to lean on a network that would be a secure vehicle in transferring proprietary information," said Jim Malaugh, information technology director with Aviagen. "The network solution provided by AT&T is not only secure but also fully managed, which lets our technical staff concentrate on mission-critical application support while AT&T assumes overall network management and troubleshooting."

The VPN solution uses AT&T's Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network and provides a safe, fully private and converged network while allowing Aviagen to prioritize the transfer of its most critical data. AT&T's MPLS network also provides high levels of redundancy for network reliability and can be leveraged to support future expansion as Aviagen's needs evolve.
